McCain must reject McCain's slighting of McCain's Service

So the McCain campaign is upset at that Wes Clark said, "I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.''
Just one problem. Ezra Klein points outthat John McCain routinely says the same thing himself:
When folks ask him about his war heroism, he's even got a stock reply: "It doesn't take a great deal of effort to get shot down," he laughs.
Hmmm. Does this mean that John McCain needs to reject John McCain's denigration of John McCain's service?
Just to make sure Ezra Klein is correct that John McCain says this routinely, I did a google, so to speak, and and found that indeed, John McCain was quoted as saying this in an event in Texas in March.
So let me get this straight. The McCain campaign is mad because Wes Clark said the exact same thing about McCain's piloting that John McCain said?
Hypocritical faux outrage from the McCain campaign is nothing particularly notable, of course.
But it is interesting that the media is making such hay of this. In 2004, the media gave a wink, nod, and millions in free media to the swift boat campaign....but when Wes Clark dares to say something that John McCain himself said, that is somehow beyond the pale.
Another day, another corporate media double standard.
